for this post in the Department of Mathematics & Applied Mathematics for appointment as soon as possible.
Requirements include:
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12) plus a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a tertiary education
environment is essential. - Excellent and professional interpersonal skills which demonstrate a maturity for working with students
and academics. - Solid administration skills
- Meticulous work with attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly complex scheduling
requirements. - Excellent computer skills (MS Office), with skill in Excel (formulae)
- Effective time-management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task within a highly
pressurised environment. - The capability to meet strict deadlines.
The following will be advantageous:- A tertiary Degree/Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with UCT PeopleSoft system
- A solid understanding of the University’s systems and procedures.
Responsibilities include:- the administration and marks processing for undergraduate courses
- overall responsibility for the marks processing in the department
- administer all undergraduate tests and exams
- administer the compilation of undergraduate results and the uploading of these onto People-Soft
- administer the lecture and tutorial venue allocation for the department
- Maintaining an efficient and effective filing system
- assisting students and staff with general office administrative queries
This role is key to the effective functioning of our team and the Department. We are particularly busy over the
periods November to mid December , January-February and mid April-mid July due to the processing of
examinations. Over these periods, leave will not be granted and extra time beyond the normal working hours
might be required on occasion.
Therefore, we require candidates who have the ability and flexibility to work beyond the normal working hours
during these periods, if the need arises.
The annual cost of employment, including benefits is between R 358 146.00 and R 421 349.00
